TASTEMAKER TUESDAYS: MEET DAWN SPINNER DAVIS

February 25 2014

Meet the gorgeous, Dawn Spinner Davis this week's glamorous Tastemaker. Dawn comes to us from her busy schedule as Beauty Editor at Total Beauty. Not only is she glamorous, she is well versed in the world of journalism, beauty and marathons. Need we say more? We're so happy she gave us some insight to stellar Spring beauty trends and girl knows the value of a good smile.

What's your motto?
Smile. A smile instantly lifts your mood and brightens the day of the people around you.
3 Beauty Trends you are looking forward to this Spring.
-Pastel nails. My favorite is Jin Soon Kookie White -- it's white with a hint of blue-gray. (Plus, a Jin Soon manicure is practically indestructible.)
-Pretty, natural-looking skin. I love the idea of wearing nothing but a really sheer BB cream and a bit of highlighter for spring.
-Matte orange lips. Ever since I interviewed makeup artist Gucci Westman backstage at the Rag & Bone show in September, I've been obsessed. Her pick is Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Mischievous.
What's your go-to outfit?
I have a black leather skirt I would wear every day if I could get away with it. People are always shocked to learn that it's ancient Isaac Mizrahi for Target. I wear it with everything, but my go-to is a feminine blouse and a great pair of heels.
What are some of your best time saving makeup tips?
Figure out what's really essential for you to look your best, and create a 5-minute routine. It's completely different for everyone, but mine is concealer, cream blush, brow powder, and a flick of eyeliner. And always have a multitasking product in your makeup bag. I love Josie Maran Argan Color Stick, which is great on lips, cheeks, and eyes.
How have you blended being a small town woman with life in the Big City?
I grew up in the suburbs of NYC, and I went to college in Maine. I love the contrast of urban and rural, and I love to travel. Sometimes you have to leave Manhattan to find perspective and truly appreciate it.
Why do you love your shape?
I love my body because it's strong and healthy. There are days I wish my legs were skinnier, but then I remind myself that my legs run half marathons and kill it in Flywheel.

We hope you found her tips equally as useful as we did! Check out more of Dawn's suggestions, here!

XOXO,
